Certification courses take three to four days and include both educational and experiential components. After completing the theoretical training, which covers gear, techniques and skills, how diving affects the body, and other important information, it is time for the hands-on portion of the certification course.
This section of the course typically takes place in a pool, where you can practice what you learned and develop your skills in a controlled environment. After three to five pool sessions, you can begin open water training. These sessions provide an opportunity to take the skills you learned in the pool into the ocean. Most training programs include four or five of these sessions. With your instructor’s guidance, you can build confidence and begin to enjoy the rich world of the ocean.
